Gluing on the Center Bouts


Before the back is glued onto the ribs, linings made of thin strips of pine are glued onto the inside of the ribs. As you can see, the mold has already been taken apart to some extent, to make room for the linings. These thin strips of wood help keep the back in place, as they increase the gluing surface. The ribs are only about 1.2 - 1.4 mm thick.
