Gluing on Back

The back is glued onto the ribs and linings with animal glue. The reason for using this type of glue is that instruments need to be repairable. One needs to be able to take them apart, in order to perform necessary repairs on the inside of an instrument. Although the glue is water-soluble, it is very strong and sets within a very short period of time.
